BEEP, BLRRRRR, MREEEEE, EEEEE-EEEEE-EEEEE, ERRRRR, ABLING, ABLING, SHHHHHHHHHH, TRRRRRR, SHHHHHHH… the reminiscent sounds of our phone line connecting to an internet server.

Back in those days if you wanted to see an image you would click to download it, go get a beverage, come back and drink it, and maybe by the time you were finished it would be ready to view. Want to watch a movie? Ha! Don’t even think about it. It wasn’t actually frustrating back then; this is all we knew. There was no faster way. Aggravation set in when you would wanted to connect but got a busy signal. Ya, a busy signal. Do Millennials even know what a busy signal sounds like? (If not, you can hear this annoying sound here.) Or how about when someone would pick up the phone and we would get cutoff. If you were downloading something, there was no way to continue when you got reconnected. Start it all over again BABY!

Today, we are connected to the internet continuous, with unlimited download and unthinkable data speeds. And it still isn’t good enough for my 12 year-old. I say bring back 56k dial up internet and teach ’em a history lesson.
